Havaianas for the summer

I absolutely love when it gets to that time of year where you can kick off your socks and slip your feet into spongy goodness. It’s so liberating; in fact it’s probably my favourite thing about being on holiday. Knowing you don’t have to pack socks and that you can line your suitcase with flip flops is a great feeling; not only are you packing light, but you’re also providing a bit of side impact protection for any airport mishaps with heavy handed staff. But as with all clothing and footwear decisions, the dilemma comes when trying to choose what to take. I don’t like to go away with too many shoes because they just take up space and cause travellers to take a bigger bag than they really need. If you’re going to travel light then you need versatility, comfort and durability at its absolute best. The only name that comes to my mind is Havaianas.   Everyone’s seen them and probably thought ‘Ooh I like those!’ but once you’ve actually worn a pair you’ll fully understand why they’re some of the most popular and best-selling summer sandals in the world. The key to their comfort is in the way they’re made; constructed from 100% natural rubber that will not only keep your feet comfy all day, fail to wear down to the toes after just a few weeks wear, but also offer much better protection than most of their rivals on the market. Having stepped on a thorn which I only discovered upon getting really annoyed at a tapping noise when I walked, I noticed how long...

Running On Clouds

Through the growth of running and jogging as a sport, or as time to get out of the house and lose a bit of weight in the process, we’ve seen plenty of innovations and wacky designs thrown at us with promises of helping us to get the most out of our run. Sometimes they work, sometimes they try but don’t quite get it right. And it’s this trial and error method that has seen most give up on the quest to find the perfect running shoes and put up with second best, even one of the three masterminds behind the awesome On Running Shoes brand. Former top athlete Olivier Bernhard and his friends David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti decided that their love of running was enough to take it upon themselves to remedy this wrong, and after his own battle to find the right trainers to combat a constant problem of inflamed Achilles tendons, Oliver Bernhard knew exactly what would be needed. Soon enough the brand was born and its new approach to running footwear had everyone wanting a bit of the action; and that’s all in the space of just a few years. Today they’re in the ranks of weird with other eye catching styles of athletic shoes like the Vibram Five Fingers and the mega-thin Merrell Pace Gloves, and its all down to the fantastic Cloud Technology that comes with every pair of On shoes. These rubber bubbles on the sole of the shoe ensure that you land cushioned and take off barefoot. The shoes don’t fall apart as soon as you start to move, don’t worry,...

Stand out with Superga

Fancy taking a walk on the wild side? If you’re a big fan of animal print then Superga is definitely the brand for you this summer thanks to their fantastic new collection of shoes which feature a huge host of different prints from feline to reptile designs. All available in their classic Cotu design which has been a huge favourite of Superga fans for years, these latest styles are certainly head turners for all of the right reasons.   Whether you’re the kind of person that rocks a leopard print like its nobody’s business, or fancy trying something a bit more wild such as a cool and casual giraffe print, Superga have got a print with your name on it. While some brands like to go overboard and really bold with their animal print, Superga have kept it real with these shoes and while not exactly subtle, they are truer to the animal they’re depicting. You’ll find no flashes of neon pink and it being dubbed feline with this collection, just a stylish alternative to your regular canvas shoes.   The Superga 2750 Cotu Shoes get the animal print treatment and this particular style is one that’s been around for a bit; since 1911 to be precise. A huge favourite and a big seller, the Cotu shoes enjoy features such as lightweight construction, vulcanized rubber soles, embossed eyelets and premium canvas fabric too. But it’s their versatility that has kept them coming back each year and giving more and more people a way to wear theirs. From styling up a casual pair of jeans to really making a dress...

Big love for Bucketfeet

There’s something really special about the onset of spring; you get those first glimpses of how awesome the weather can be and the beautiful things that come from it. Daffodils, little insects and birds, you could even find yourself laying on the grass somewhere thinking you’re some kind of fairy and Bambi is about to come galloping past. And all of this prettiness, colourfulness and good-looking nature is reflected in the footwear that comes out during this season. We stumbled upon a brand called Bucketfeet lately and this is one that really is full of the joys of spring. From colourful splodges of paint across the uppers of their shoes to the bright and bold red soles, Bucketfeet footwear has art at the heart. The brand itself is quite different to others in the sense that it takes its inspiration from the streets and those that walk them and as such, commission artist to create unique and beautiful designs that everyone can enjoy. Firm believers in that art should be shared rather than locked away these shoes are an artist’s canvas and the result is something pretty spectacular. Some of our favourites are the fantastic Pineappleade shoes; pineapple print black and white slip on style shoes with a slim profile sole for everyday wear, and the colourful Catapult slip on shoes, an all-over geometric print that’s got spring and summer in its sights. The best thing about Bucketfeet shoes isn’t how comfortable they are or how great they look; it’s their versatility. These are colourful additions to your footwear collection that can be worn with just about anything –...
