The tables turn on festive fashion

As the saying goes, ‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’ except when it comes to fashion and the festive season, the two don’t usually tend to go hand in hand. It used to be that adding a flash of Christmas to your look with an accessory or making a statement with the red and gold sparkles all over was the way to do it, and do it well. The idea of wearing a naff Christmas jumper would see you laughed out of the bar but oh, how times have changed.   Today wherever you go there’s Santa, reindeer, penguins and even snowmen adorning red, white and blue jumpers. And we’re not just talking about the subtle and nicely styled sweaters; it’s the garish and the daring designs that are making a big impact on the world of festive fashion. If you’re daring enough you can enjoy some of the boldest prints or if that’s not your thing you could even go for something a little less crazy but a lot more traditional. Wellies are your wet weather best friends and have never really been the first choice for a fashion statement, but now with so many awesome brands taking these rubber beauties and giving them an overhaul with colours and prints galore, wellies are now a big thing for winter style with a huge bonus – they really will keep your feet dry!   Proving that you don’t need to head to the big names in wellington boots in order to get a pair of boots that are both functionally great but good looking too, you can get the same quality and cool looks from brands at a fraction of the price. Some of my favourite are from Vans – these are a take on their classic checkerboard design and are available in a choice of different colours so you can brighten up any outfit. Based on the same style as the Vans Classic Slip On Shoes these are a great choice for wet and rainy days.   Another brand that’s making a bit of a splash is Bogs, and that’s down to more than just their great designs. Although there’s a choice of stylish and colourful boots for everyone, they’re also feature-laden and ready to take on anything from a light spring shower to a winter downpour. Each pair of Bogs Wellies feature easy pull-on handles so you’re not forever trying to peel them on and...
